What is HIV / AIDS?

After malaria, AIDS (Acquired lmmune Deficiency Syndrome) is the worst pandemic facing the world today.

Over 95% of HIV-infected people live in poor countries, particularly Africa.

Someone who is HIV positive has the Human Immunodeficiency Virus in their blood.

Typical problems resulting from the infection or disease include weight loss, severe infections, diarrhoea, skin diseases, tuberculosis and certain cancers.

Antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) reduce the proliferation of the HIV virus and can delay the onset or progression of AIDS.
